The major nozzle manufacturers offer a
staggering array of atomizer designs, ratings, materials and configurations
[upwards of 20,000 individual listings per company].
Even if each nozzle
were tested at only a few of the most common operating pressures, the amount
of testing required for even a modest degree of documentation is
overwhelming. It is little wonder then, that nozzle companies will often
supply customers limited or estimated performance information for their nozzles. These estimates
may be the result of calculations using generalized relationships or be extrapolated from some
limited set of actual test data. It is not uncommon to discover that the
reference data used in these extrapolations can be decades old and produced by
instruments of relatively crude resolution and accuracy compared to those in
use today. Most often, the tests are performed with the atomizers spraying
water under standard environmental conditions at modest operating pressures.
For critical applications, this type of performance information is just
not sufficient to reliably specify an atomizer or to ensure that the
selected atomizer will actually perform as expected.
spray research, inc. is a specialist
in the application of industrial spray technology. Our sophisticated
laboratory can provide independent validation of the full range of atomizer
performance parameters and
spray dynamics to assist
you in the unbiased selection and specification of the proper atomizer for
you application.
