the qualification process
step 1: optimize and index

As an example of the atomizer qualification process, we will follow the qualification of six "identical" atomizers supplied to a pharmaceutical firm to be used in a Wurster coater. The atomizer is a three-component two-stream air-atomizer. They are supplied as matched assemblies of Air- and Fluid-Caps..

The first step is to assemble the sets of atomizer components under the video-probe cmm to optimize the consistency of the annular gap as well as the orifice-to-annulus concentricity. Once the optimal geometry is achieved, the assemblies are pinned to index the components.
