spray research has a fully-equipped
machine shop to provide comprehensive in-house prototyping support for
atomizer
and process development projects and its
atomizer
qualification service.
Major equipment includes a manual milling
machine and engine lathe as well as cnc machining- and turning-centers. The
atomizer development strategies pursued by spray
research are geared towards rapid ramp-up from the development stages
through to production. Since most atomizer prototypes are machined on production
tooling and equipment, late-stage changes to the developed design to meet actual
production constraints are kept to a minimum.
Our Model Shop extends the machine shop capabilities to fabricating
experimental fixtures, specialized spray chambers and components for process
development work.
spray research makes extensive use of
modern 3-D modeling software and rapid prototyping technologies to speed
development projects. Stereolithography [performed by a third party] is employed
to produce the replicas used in the investment casting of super-alloy prototypes
for field testing.
Although these prototyping capabilities are configured primarily to support
the development efforts, spray research
is also able to provide short production runs of its proprietary atomizer designs.
