ISO 13320

[Particle Size Analysis Guide to Laser Diffraction]

This standard is limited to laser diffraction instruments based on Low Angle Laser Light Scattering [LALLS] techniques and is not directly applicable to phase Doppler techniques. The focus of the standard is on the particle size analysis of powders dispersed in either air or liquid. Much of the standard thus addresses the important concerns of sample preparation and dispersion techniques.

The standard discusses operational procedures, sample preparation, expectations for repeatability and resolution, performance validation [verification] and standardized reporting formats. Spatial sampling is not addressed since it is assumed that the entire dispersed particle flow is contained within the instrument's sample volume.

The SOP's developed by spray research draw on the sections in this standard that address expected repeatability and the validation/verification of the instrument with polydisperse materials.
